This is a 2nd story deck.  It was originally a porch that allowed ingress and egress.
Working with my client I designed and constructed a space to have breakfast, tea or a glass of wine in the evening, while allowing ingress and egress.
The deck is off the second story, and was built to closely match a deck on a new addition.

Redecked & reinforced this beautiful deck on the Manasquan River.  The customer chose Fiberon (r) Composite Decking & Phoenix (r) railings with hidden fasteners. I picture framed the deck & laid the decking at 45 degrees, this combination offers a beautiful appearance.  The railing was installed on the outside of the deck to allow maximum room for gatherings.
